Integrating circular economy principles into spatial and urban development practices faces many challenges. Particularly, the realization of circular urban development is surrounded by questions about the right spatial scale of implementation, possible supportive business and governance models, and the integration of various circular flows, amongst others. This presentation illustrates empirical findings from the REPAiR H2020 research project, regarding the legal-regulatory, financial-economic, inter-institutional, intra-institutional and behavioural challenges faced by public, private and civil stakeholders active in circular economy development in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Region.
